In reply to “Decades Later: UN Still Pressing Iraq on WMDs,” by Jason Ditz, 02/26/10:

Articles like this make me cringe and confirm to me and certainly to many millions of others, that nonsense rules the minds of the “international community.” You destroy a country, kill hundreds of thousands, ensure that millions are displaced, yet sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent children during the nineties, are to remain? Amazing, simply amazing.

In reply to “Ron Paul’s Victory: How Sweet It Is!” by Justin Raimondo, 02/24/10:

The entire stock-in-trade of modern politics is mere tinkering along the edges of the warfare-welfare state, with the Stupid Party occasionally suggesting small cuts in future taxes or spending on domestic issues, and the Dumbercrats responding with the “starve-the-poor” rhetoric against those GOP proposals with similar trim around the edges (denounced by the mainstream media as “historic cuts”) of the Pentagon, the CIA, and the primary criminal elements of our society, usually supported by the GOP.

The libertarians — especially the Ron Paul movement — put an end to this idiotic farce by calling for massive cuts, both in taxes and spending, both in the “welfare” and the “warfare” state, by questioning if it is even proper for the government to intervene in the first place, and by calling for Constitutional due process and civil liberties for everyone, not merely for selected groups!

No wonder that both the senile left, and the addled and useless right, both see the Ron Paul movement as a threat. If we begin to get our way, the only employment for these characters will be as circus clowns, if not as street homeless with little tin cups!

In reply to “Ron Paul!” by Justin Raimondo, 02/22/10:

Ron Paul — another establishment libertarian. This is the jerk who touted repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act as a worthwhile cause. Yes, Paul serves his corporate masters well by tearing down the firewalls that FDR erected to save the working class from corporate predators.

This is why I hold my nose when I donate money to antiwar.com. You moan about progressives deserting you while you support Astroturf libertarians who are our enemies. Libertarians are useful fools.

Mike Harrington

Editor’s Response: And we thank you for supporting Antiwar.com, even if you feel the need to hold your nose occasionally! In any diverse antiwar coalition, there are going to be disagreements any time the discussion strays outside the narrow confines of that coalition’s common ground.

While many in the current American antiwar movement may take issue with Congressman Paul when the discussion strays from war and foreign policy, I think most would also agree that his efforts on the issue that brings us together have been nothing short of heroic. – TLK
